The Center for Community Engagement at SUNY Cobleskill is responsible for developing partnerships that integrate campus and regional resources in a collaborative effort to meet the   needs of the community. The emphasis is on creating opportunities to engage our students, faculty, staff and community partners in service projects and educational initiatives that provide meaningful learning outcomes for our students and tangible benefits for our partners. In delivering on this mission, The Center for Community Engagement serves as a focal point that sources projects, allocates resources, compiles assessment data, and promotes the value of community engagement.

For more information on volunteer opportunities, please contact Matthew M. LaLonde, Ed.D., Associate Vice President for Student Development at 518-255-5321 or lalondmm@cobleskill.edu

Through Outreach and Service,
SUNY Cobleskill Gives Back to Area Communities

SUNY Cobleskill offers robust community engagement programs, with a variety of partnerships, including local animal shelters, food pantries, and soup kitchens.  Students are invited to participate in community clean ups, Cobleskill's December to Remember Annual Holiday Parade, and gather holiday wish list items for the Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program.

SUNY Cobleskill held Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service on January 21, coinciding with Martin Luther King Day and the start of the semester. Service activities and public discussions aimed at generating constructive, thought-provoking conversations spanned the day, and the campus-wide food drive remained open. SUNY Cobleskill raised more than $1,150 for local pantries – a total sufficient for a pantry to purchase more than 7,250 lbs. (or 3.6 tons) of food.

As the semester continues, a winter coat drive, blood drive, Earth Day tree plantings, and additional outreach programs are scheduled. Each will serve to enhance SUNY Cobleskill’s growing capacity to support its area communities. For information about future events and initiatives, return to this webpage for updates.
